You don’t know how to get ‘unstuck’

 

You’ve read all the self-help books, you practice gratitude, you say your affirmations. You may have tried counseling or enrolled in courses, but you have never been able to make yourself follow through to the finish. Nothing seems to work.

So you stay stuck in a deep, deep rut. So deep you think it’s your ‘normal’.

You’ve tried to get your life back on track by eating better, going to the gym. It feels great while you’re focused, but as soon as something happens to throw you off track — a birthday with cake, working late at the office so you miss the gym, a few late nights — you give up because you've blown it and it’s never going to get better, anyway, so why bother trying?

You’ve always been the one everyone depends upon. At work you run yourself ragged as you try to find a sense of purpose and achievement in your work. And it's getting harder to keep up the pace. 

Your relationship with your husband or partner is less than great. You used to have fun together, there was passion, and you could talk into the wee hours of the night. Now, you mostly retreat to your neutral corners because there is less tension. Yet, you yearn for the closeness that you used to share when you were a team — before life and ‘reality’ got in the way.

You are starting to think that you are turning into your mother. You swore you’d never become your mother, but here you are… without focus, your light has dimmed, you’ve become passive, or passive-aggressive. You continue to stay stuck. Worse, you’re well on your way to passing the legacy onto your daughter. You hate that she's seeing this happen to you, but you feel powerless to pull yourself out of it. You sure as hell don’t want her to end up here...

You don’t feel connected, but you yearn for a community of people who ‘get’ you. You’ve thought about joining a club, or volunteering in your spare time, or finding a group of women you can have coffee with, but it never seems to work, you never know what to say when you get there because you're always protecting yourself.

There’s something missing, but you can’t figure out what. You may have been able to get yourself out of your funk in the past, but this time you’re at a loss. You can’t do it alone. You need help. You want to get to the core of what’s going on, but you don’t even know where to begin. So you do nothing.

This state of perpetual frozen avoidance is fear

Begin with journaling

You’ll unearth old hurts that are the core of your fears. And you'll learn to let them go so you can move forward again. 

You could choose to stay scared and small, but there will be consequences

Doing nothing has consequences. You know it because you’ve seen it happen to so many women — perhaps your own mother. Don’t let doing nothing lead to extinguishing your fire or allowing life to lead you instead of you leading your life.

Doing nothing and drifting can mean sinking into real depression — the kind where the doctor prescribes pills. You swore you’d never go there. So don’t let it happen.

There is a proven link between depression and physical illness. Professor David Goldberg of the Institute of Psychiatry, London, UK, reports that the rate of depression in patients with a chronic disease is almost three times higher than the norm. Depressive illness can also precede a physical disease. It has been linked to coronary heart disease, stroke, colorectal cancer, back pain, irritable bowel syndrome, multiple sclerosis, and possibly type 2 diabetes.

Research has also found that journal writing is therapeutic. And, writing about important personal experiences is not only good for your mental health, but your physical health as well, according to  James Pennebaker, PhD, professor of psychology at the University of Texas in Austin. Pennebaker, author of Opening Up: The Healing Power of Expressing Emotions, found that writing about upsetting personal experiences for just 20 minutes at a time, over three or four days, can result in a significant drop in blood pressure and a healthier immune system.

TAKE ACTION!

Greet each day with intention and action. You jump out bed, slipping into your exercise gear, lacing up your running shoes and heading out the front door for a brisk walk BEFORE you’ve had your coffee or turned on the computer!

 

Find energy and focus. You find yourself losing hours — but this time doing what you love! You have more than enough energy to get to the end of your to-do list. And you’ve lost the guilt when you choose not to work.

 

Take care of yourself. You stop spending so much time TV surfing and try actual surfing! You lace up your walking shoes and explore. You eat better because you stop hating your body and want to take care of it.

 

Have a community that you actively engage in. You joined the gym and found a circle of friends or a woman’s group — and you found your inner goddess! It feels good to laugh and cry and celebrate.

 

Fall in love with your husband again! The spark is back and you’re getting to know each other on a completely different level. You’re sharing more of the load together, going on date nights, and staying up late talking and rediscovering your passion for each other.

 

Are curious about the world around you. Your wanderlust has found you again. You’re finally planning that return trip to Tuscany with your husband — and this time you’re taking a cooking course with a chef!

Break Free is a combination of video lessons for doing in the privacy of your home, and live online discussion to work through your worries, anxieties, and questions.

This course will inspire you, free you, propel you forward, and give you the courage to take action.

It’s a deep exploration of our fears and our desires — and where they collide. But it's so much more! It's also about taking action to move through the fears that have been holding you back. It's about practical, achievable actions, valuable lessons, writing practices, and weekly challenges to step out of your fear box and move towards a life you'll be excited about living!

Best of all, I’ll be with you every step of the way. All Break Free levels include private, one-to-one coaching.

At the Group Coaching level, we’ll be working together in a very small group of people who are also ready to break free from their constricting fears. We’ll quickly develop into a close-knit supportive group that I call a cocoon of love. Together, you and your cocoon-mates will transform from fear-filled to fear-less people who are moving toward their dream.

At the Private Coaching level, we'll meet each week and work together one-to-one to keep you moving, talk about your progress, where you're acing the course and where you need extra help.

Each week, I'll post a module with the video lesson and workbook for you to work through in the comfort of your home. Each module includes insights and inspirations and plenty of journaling practices for you to move through your fears, desires and actions.

At the group coaching and private coaching levels, we'll also meet each week to discuss your insights, challenges, a-ha moments and excitement as you realize that you CAN break free from your fears! On our last week together, we'll do a recap and discuss the plan you're taking into action for beginning to living the life of your vision.

In the self-directed course, I've included a private, one-to-one session.

You'll build and develop your writing muscle and find and develop your core strengths, which will see you through as you create and move through your action plan.

1. We’re in this together

If you’re like me and so many others, you need accountability and gentle nudges to keep you going. I used to call myself the Queen of Procrastination!

With Break Free's group and private coaching options, you get accountability, gentle nudges and peer support every week of out eight weeks together. I’m with you all the way. This is tender stuff, and in a loving and gentle way I will guide you through the process that I personally created from my own experiences. I will challenge you and love you through the process of discovering and naming your fears and desires. Then, as we take action, I’m there with the tough-love you’ll need to stay on track.

If there’s one thing I’ve learned in my struggles with my own fears, it’s that fear is not the enemy. In fact, Fear is part of you. And if you're feeling Fear at the thought of following your desires, you can be sure that your heart is calling you. I believe in taking Fear along for the ride, not kicking her ass (or worse)! I may believe that you're taking her along for the ride, but I also believe in being firm about who's in the driver's seat — YOU!

 

3. You develop a customized road map to navigate through your fears

Think of me as your guide to learning to navigate by following your own inner GPS. I have the tools, the techniques, and I've experienced (and worked through) many of the same fears as you have. This is a method you can use over and over again, each time your fears collide with your desires.

4. Because I freaking care so much about you!

I am a petri dish of experience. I was in such a state of uncertainty a few years ago, I felt as though I alternated between feeling like a china doll wrapped in cotton gauze (nothing could get in, nothing could come out) — or a marshmallow wrapped in barbed wire (I lashed out at the smallest criticism I felt, to the point I distanced myself from all but a few people who knew me well enough not to hurt me so I didn’t have to hurt them). Through journaling and mentorship, I broke through, found my passion, and changed my story to feature myself as the heroine instead of the victim.

I know journal writing heals, because I, and many of my students, have made huge changes, finding clarity and answers in our lives, with the help of journaling. I want that for you too.

+ I’ve tried journaling before and it didn’t work. What makes this course so special?

Honestly, I don’t know if there’s ever been something like this before. I’ll be with you every step of the way and we’ll be working together either privately, or in a very small group of people who are also ready to break free from their constricting fears. As in my past live workshops, in the group option, we’ll quickly develop into a close-knit supportive group that I call the cocoon of love. It’s kind of like a mastermind group of women who support, challenge, and keep each other accountable. Together we’ll transform ourselves from fear-filled to fear-less women who are moving toward their dreams. When you’ve completed this course, you will have a plan and a system that you developed to keep moving forward — and journal writing will be a habit and your place to sort out any bumps or roadblocks you encounter on your way to creating the life you desire.

+ Do I have to write by hand?

When you write by hand — you slow down your mind and still that chittering bird brain that — so that you can hear your heart speaking. This is what I call Writing From the Heart and it forms the foundation of everything I teach. It’s all about connecting your heart to your brain to your pen. You simply become a conduit that records what she hears. Try it. Once slowing down your thoughts and hearing your heart becomes a ritual and a habit for you, by all means, use your computer. Just make sure you turn off all distractions while you write.

+ I’m not a writer, what if I run out of things to say?

The most wonderful thing about writing from your heart is that you become a receiver and recorder of thoughts — it’s a listening practice, not a writing practice. And don’t worry, I will always be there, guiding you with topics to write about. As long as you are connected to the voice of your heart, you will never run out of things to say.

+ I’m afraid to find something traumatic in my past…

I felt the same way, but I, and thousands of students who’ve taken my courses, know the heart is gentle and loving and will only tell you what you’re ready to know. Writing from the heart is like following a spiral — you circle around the core of what there is to discover (sometimes over many writing sessions) until you are ready to know what lies beneath the hurt and fear. You’ll be able to look at each memory from an adult perspective, knowing that nothing and no one can hurt you like that again. However, some of these journaling practices may trigger those with deep, unresolved trauma. It is best that you follow your own inner wisdom. I cannot accept responsibility if this happens.

+ Will I be free of fear at the end of this course?

By the end of our eight weeks together, you’ll be the one in the driver’s seat of your life, not Fear. She will always be a passenger on your journey, but as you learn to trust yourself and move toward your desires, you’ll be the CEO of your own life. When she starts to fuss, you’ll know that if there isn’t imminent physical danger (what Fear is really meant to warn you about) then you are moving closer to something that is really important for you to experience.

+ What if I can’t attend all the classes?

I’ve got you covered. All lessons will be recorded, so even if you can’t attend every class, you will be able to follow along and keep up. If you can't attend the weekly live meetings, they may be recorded if group consensus is reached.

+ How do I know if this course is for me?

If you’re struggling in your life, missing the courageous, fun-loving woman you once were, and you’re determined to get her back, then this course is for you.

If the thought of doing this course with a group of women you don’t know scares the heck out of you, that’s a very good indication you need to join us!

+ Who isn’t suited for this program?

This course will ask a lot of you: it will challenge you to take a serious look at your life, your past, what you fear, and what you desire. It challenges you to step out of your comfort zone. If you aren’t ready to courageously go there, week after week, and in the time in between lessons, this is not the course for you. If you have deep, unresolved trauma, this course is NOT for you, unless you also have the guidance of a therapist.

+ I’m working with a counselor/coach. Will Break Free From Fear still be a good fit?

Since Break Free From Fear is a healing course about using your journal to work through your issues and make changes in your life, it's the perfect complement to any self-exploration healing you may be doing. Having the journal to record and make sense of all the changes happening in your life is the perfect way to explore and look back upon your progress.

However, some of these journaling practices may trigger those with deep, unresolved trauma. It is best that you follow your own inner wisdom. I cannot accept responsibility if this happens.

+ How long do I have to finish this program?

This interactive video course spans an 8-week period. You can take as long as you need to finish the modules. The video modules will be yours to keep forever, so you can go back to them again and again. Recordings of the weekly live meetings may be recorded, if group consensus is reached.

+ How long do I have to book my one-on-one call?

When you register and pay, you can book your call anytime during the 8 weeks the course is running, or for two weeks after the course has ended if you need a bit more time.

+ What if I don’t like the course? Do you have a refund policy?

If you attend the workshops, do all the work and find that Fear is still running your life after our 8 weeks together, I will, of course, give you a full refund. But if you sign up for Break Free From Fear and decide not to continue, refunds will not be issued. This is life-changing work we’re doing here, so please be sure this course is for you.
