NEVER RUN OUT OF THINGS TO SAY AGAIN!

Never run out of things to say again

 

One of the most common things I hear about journal writing is, “I open my journal, then stare at the blank page because I don’t know what to say.”

But when you write from your heart, you’ll find this rarely, if ever, happens to me.

 

WRITING FROM THE HEART IS NOT ABOUT BEING A GOOD WRITER. IT’S ABOUT BEING A GOOD LISTENER.

Yes, that’s right, it’s more about listening and writing down what you hear than being a good writer. Your heart has infinite wisdom and will never run out of things to say. All you have to do is take notes.

Sometimes you may not be able to connect to your heart right away, but just write down whatever you’re hearing run through your head and within minutes you’ll shift gears into writing from your heart.

And if you don't stop, breathe, calm yourself, and listen again. OR, just keep writing, "I don't know what to say. I don't know what to say. I don't know what to say." until you hear something else. Or write whatever you hear. Sometimes, like it the days of the old carburetors, you have to clean out the crud that stuck in your pipes before the good stuff starts flowing again.

Do any of these sound like you?

You lash out if you feel the slightest criticism, and then feel like the most horrible person ever.

You try desperately not to cry because you don’t want anyone to think you’re a weak-ass crybaby who is a vulnerable target.

You feel like you’re bad to the bone and undeserving, so you keep people at a distance in case they hurt you, or you hurt them.

You’re directionless and don’t know what to do next. Even if you’re working at something you love to do, you’re wracked with fear every time a new challenge comes your way.

You suffer from a massive case of Imposter Syndrome. You’ve even cleaned toilets to avoid starting anything new.

Your evenings are spent watching hours and hours of television, or on facebook, stuffing yourself with cookies, chips, chocolate, alcohol, drugs — whatever you can find to numb the pain and not feel what so desperately needs to burst out of you. But, no matter what you do, it feels like there’s never enough to fill you up.

How about a life filled with amazing relationships with a partner you love, friends that get you, a fabulous job doing what you love — or a business you’re called to lead, travel, learning, health, and excitement to be alive?! It can happen for you too.

As you work through your past hurts, you’ll eventually come to a deeper understanding of yourself. You’ll try living authentically for the first time since you were that sassy, confident person you left behind. You won’t be perfect at it and lots of times you’ll back into your old people-pleasing ways, but even in your worst days, it will still feel good to be you.
