Okay, instead of working today, I listened to this (LOUD) about 20 times by now and I now know why I love this song so much.
I was a young kid in the 60s, and 60s music with it's innocence and danceability, makes me happy. It brings out the inner go-go girl in me, someone I always wanted to be. The boots, the fringe, the moves... I loved it all.
Happy is a 2014 go-go song. It makes me do that wonderful jerky dance that my beautiful sister Theresa (who was a child of the 60s) does, snap my fingers and do the twist.
I love the innocence and positivity of the early 60s. When I was in my 20s, one New Year's Eve a group of my best friends and I all got together and had a party. I'm sure there was drinking involved, but mostly I remember watching videos. We were up so late there were no cabs, so the boys walked us home. I had my first Walkman by then, and I was listening to my favourite of all time Beatles album, Please Please Me, with the one song that will still get me up dancing, pretty much no matter what, Twist and Shout!. And dance I did, the whole way home.
There really is not a lot of point, or message to this blog... but maybe there is. I don't know if the chicken or the egg came first in this case, but perhaps it's no coincidence that the 100 Days of Happy movement (in which you take a photo every day for 100 days about what makes you happy) came about and all the sudden HAPPY is a daily to the facebook pages of many of my friends, including mine, which is how this all got started.
You know what?! I can type really fast and to the music when I'm playing "Happy!"
It is so much fun to remind myself every day that I'm happy. Sometimes it's the littlest things, like a walk with the lovely Lulu...
...Or getting back to my own writing after a couple of weeks of thinking I'm too busy to do it. It's all about the same thing isn't it?
"It might seem crazy what I'm about to say. Sunshine she here you can take a break."
We all need to do more things that make us happy, shake our hips, twist and shout, sing out loud, clap along if we feel that's what we want to do.
Do you ever feel so happy you could actually cry? I do, and I've felt a lot of moments in just 9 days. So do it my peeps, allow yourself to be happy!
"Clap along if you feel like a room without a roof. Clap along if you feel that happiness is the truth!"
That's it, I'm taking the rest of the day off.
There are just way too many signs!
And on Friday, The Universe said, "Yo! Ho! Ho! It's time to have fun!"
Whereupon IMAGINATION was invented... and there was a huge gasp among the angels. For it was clear that the reins of power in time and space had been passed to those so blessed... and that they would be left to discover this for themselves.
And it was really good.
Happy Anniversary, kathy!
